ELA x ROANOKE

Belmont Fallon, one of Roanoke’s oldest neighborhoods, began as a thriving suburb supporting the manufacturing industries of the City. After the decline of these major industries, the once booming residential neighborhood began to deteriorate and its connection to Downtown diminished.

Today, Belmont Fallon is on the precipice of revitalization. In 2019, the City selected the Belmont Fallon Neighborhood as their Target Area for their community development planning and funding for the next five years. The City of Roanoke has begun the process of streetscape improvements in the neighborhood, and recognizes that incorporating vibrant spaces for
gathering can foster a sense of community and social interaction.
